Starting in 2019, the full-time programs at The French Pastry School will be offered in partnership with Robert Morris University Illinois.  FPS will no longer be associated with City Colleges of Chicago after January 15, 2019.

The French Pastry School of Kennedy-King College at City Colleges of Chicago is pleased to accept international students to its full-time programs, the 24-week Pastry and Baking Program (L'Art de la Pâtisserie) and the 16-week Cake Program (L'Art du Gâteau).  International Students are required to take a few additional steps in the application process.

Types of International Students

The French Pastry School accepts three types of international students:

Language Requirements

Students from countries where English is not the official language must take either the TOEFL or the IELTS.


The TOEFL examination is accepted with:

  • 500 on the paper-based test, or
  • 173 on the computer-based test, or
  • 61 on the Internet-based test with a minimum of 15 points in each test category

The IELTS examination is accepted with a 5.5 or better cumulative band score, with no less than 5.0 in any subject area.   

IELTS International
