Chicago, Illinois (July 22, 2010) – The newest Chef Instructor at The French Pastry School at City Colleges of Chicago, Scott Green, brings experience and the perspective of a gifted artist to his role. Green pursued studies in fine art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where his first concentration was oil painting, a talent that earned him a scholarship. Green later found his true passion in pastry, and he discovered he could easily translate his artistic aptitude to the edible medium.

Chicago, Illinois (July 20, 2010) – Construction of The French Pastry School’s new teaching kitchen and research facilities in the City Colleges of Chicago District Headquarters building is complete, and Mayor Richard M. Daley presided over the inauguration on Monday, July 12, 2010. The ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official inauguration of the expanded facilities. The occasion received international exposure with the celebration of Cap’Recette, a culinary publication distributed to chefs worldwide.

Chicago, Illinois (July 14, 2010) – Chef En-Ming Hsu, World Pastry Champion and Chef Instructor at The French Pastry School at City Colleges of Chicago, was recognized at the World Pastry Forum in Phoenix, Arizona: She was named the 2010 Pastry Chef of the Year by the World Pastry Team Championship.

Chicago, Illinois (June 30, 2010) – Graduates, faculty and staff of The French Pastry School were honored to have guest speakers, White House Executive Pastry Chef Bill Yosses, and Joe Trummer, a Food Scientist with the Sara Lee Corporation, address attendees on June 18th at the graduation ceremony of L’Art de la Pâtisserie, The Professional Pastry and Baking 24-week program at The French Pastry School. The newest group of alumni celebrated with their chef instructors, friends, and family at The Union League Club of Chicago.

Chicago, Illinois (June 25, 2010) – Della Gossett, Chef Instructor at The French Pastry School, formerly of Charlie Trotters, attended a special breakfast at the White House on Friday, June 4th for the kick-off event of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign, designed with the goal to end childhood obesity. Let’s Move! is partnering with Share Our Strength, a national organization that works to make sure no child in America goes hungry.

Chicago, Illinois (June 23, 2010) – The French Pastry School participated in the Sweets & Snacks Expo, thanks to the National Confectioners Association, where the Chef Founders, Jacquy Pfeiffer and Sébastien Canonne, M.O.F., and Instructors Joshua Johnson and Kristen Ryan demonstrated some classic French confectionery recipes for all attendees. Also present was For the Love of Chocolate Foundation members.

Chicago, Illinois (June 18, 2010) – Chef Nicholas Lodge of The French Pastry School at City Colleges of Chicago was recently named one of the Top Ten Pastry Chefs as well as one of the Top Ten Cake Artists of 2010 by Dessert Professional Magazine, making this the first time a chef has received both of these awards in the same year. He was honored in New York City along with the other Top Ten pastry artists from around the country at a reception held on June 7th where he showcased his “Chapeau Chic” dessert.

AAA Five Diamond restaurant, hosted members, inductees, and honored guests of L’Académie Culinaire de France (French Culinary Academy) and Maîtres-Cuisiniers de France (Master Chefs of France) on June 6th to honor the retiring President of the French Culinary Academy, Jean Jacques Dietrich, and to bestow annual awards.
