Chef Instructor Nicholas Lodge of The French Pastry School Receives Award from Dessert Professional

Chicago, Illinois (June 18, 2010) – Chef Nicholas Lodge of The French Pastry School at City Colleges of Chicago was recently named one of the Top Ten Pastry Chefs as well as one of the Top Ten Cake Artists of 2010 by Dessert Professional Magazine, making this the first time a chef has received both of these awards in the same year. He was honored in New York City along with the other Top Ten pastry artists from around the country at a reception held on June 7th where he showcased his “Chapeau Chic” dessert.

A reception was held for 350 guests to commend the winning chefs where each one also presented one of their signature desserts. Chef Lodge created his “Chapeau Chic” which consisted of a pistachio sponge cake base, pistachio mousse encasing, a red sour cherry crémeux with red sour cherry granola, and adorned with a gumpaste cherry blossom.

“It is a privilege to call Nicholas Lodge a colleague,” said Chef Jacquy Pfeiffer, Dean of Student Affairs at The French Pastry School, “His amazing talent, his careful attention to detail, and his great patience make him an outstanding chef and teacher.”

Nicholas Lodge will be teaching in The French Pastry School’s L’Art du Gâteau – The Professional Cake Decorating and Baking Program beginning August 30, 2010. He has traveled the world to 26 countries teaching courses in cake decorating and sugar arts. Lodge’s many cake commissions include one of the official wedding cakes for wedding of Lady Diana and Prince Charles. In 2001, Nicholas was voted into the International Cake Exploration Societé (ICES) Hall of Fame, being the youngest person to receive this honor.
