The Art of French Pastry book tour took Chef Jacquy Pfeiffer to Washington, D.C. on April 3 for an event at the Embassy of France. Chef Jacquy presented a delicious and educational evening for attendees, which started with a screening of the documentary, Kings of Pastry, and was followed by a presentation, book signing, and tasting. This event was part of the Francophonie Cultural Festival; six weeks of concerts, theatrical performances, films, culinary tastings, literary salons, children’s workshops, and more that celebrate and explore the many countries that speak French. Our nation’s capital holds the largest Francophone festival in the world.

While in D.C., Chef Jacquy took the opportunity to catch up with his friend White House Executive Pastry Chef Bill Yosses. He and two current students of The French Pastry School, Elouise Del Rosario and Juan Gutierrez, were welcomed at the White House by Chef Yosses and his staff. They received a tour of the White House and the pastry kitchen. A highlight was taking souvenir photos in their chef whites.
